Something went wrong with this hole.  I don’t really know why this one was any different.

The pilot drill broke as I put it down.  After I’d messed about getting the broken piece out, I just could not get through the steel.  It was rock hard.  I bought some special drills designed for stainless steel and even they wouldn't get through it.  I’ve gone through about six brand new drill bits and you can see that with the repeated drilling attempts, I’ve just opened up the hole too large.  This is a complete pigs ear.  It could be a “hard bit” in the steel, or perhaps its work hardened with drilling.  Either way, its not right.
