Viewports

16/12/07

Here is the obligatory before and after shot.  A lump of raw viewport material and the first three completed ports.  After discussion with people at psubs, I put the first two back on the lathe and skimmed off another 1mm from the inside diameter of the bore.

This will allow a clearance of 1.5mm between the lens and the frame.

I have another one almost complete.  I’m adding two extra ports to the design, so I have eight to do in total, plus the hatch port which is different.

I also used a tungsten carbide changeable boring tip on the third one and it was much better than a normal one.  I was able to put the speed up to 260 RPM which speeded things up.
