Here I have machined the electrical through hull and drilled it out to the tapping size for 3/4 inch UNF which I think was 17.5 mm. Then with everything still chucked up in the lathe, I started the tap by hand. The machine was not switched on, I just turned the chuck by hand. This gets the threads perfectly straight down the bore. I only tapped it out a few turns just to get it started. |
