I started to glue the deck together. I am using “SABA” products. The instructions on Robbin’s Timber website (where I got the wood) are very good. http://www.robbins.co.uk/marine/product_guides.asp and I am following the instructions. I degreased everything, then applied the glue. It does say to spread the glue to a minimum thickness of 2mm which seems quite a lot to me, but I tried my best. I spread it all out onto the plywood template using an old flexible surfboard fin. This worked really well as an improvised spreader. Next I fitted the pieces together and clamped it all to a piece of slate, which is perfectly flat and solid. I hope it hasn’t moved slightly with cramping. Takes 24 hours to dry. |
